Is Your Pharmacy’s Appearance Hurting Your Business?
Are you losing customers from the appearance of your pharmacy? If your store looks unkempt, dimly lit, or is showing signs of wear and tear, you could be losing customers without realizing it. Retail data shows customers make snap judgements about a business based on its appearance, and especially in the healthcare industry, customers want a bright, clean, and tidy store to shop in.
Neglecting your store’s appearance is an easy lull to fall into. You get used to seeing your store as it is and your eyes glaze over the sore spots your customers might notice right away. The bright side of this is there are a lot of things you can do on your own that won’t break the bank and will drastically improve the feeling your store gives off.
In truth, an expensive, full on remodel isn’t always necessary. Try walking through your store with fresh eyes. Is there paint peeling? Discolored tile or worn carpet? Perhaps most importantly, is there dim or uneven lighting in your store? These things send a signal to customers about your attention to detail, and can make an otherwise well-operating business seem sloppy, uninviting, or second-rate.
If you do decide your store is in need a refresh, keep in mind where you can make the biggest improvements for the smallest amount of downtime. There isn’t a huge ROI on a big remodel that takes your business out of commission for an extended period of time. Utilize your off hours and do projects piecemeal so there’s as little interruption to your business as possible. Your current and future customers may not thank you for putting some elbow grease into your store, but they will certainly notice and feel better about patronizing a business that takes pride in its appearance.
